Privacy policy

This site is static HTML. It has no accounts, no login, no forms and no database of visitors. What follows is a description of the few things that do happen.

The short version

• Punehire does not ask you for any personal information, and has nowhere to put it if you gave it.
• One thing is stored in your browser: your light or dark theme choice.
• The map on the front page loads tiles from CARTO, which sees your IP address.
• Google advertising and analytics cookies are covered in detail below.
• Applications happen on the employer's own site. We never see one.

What this site is, technically

Every page here was generated ahead of time and is served as a finished file from Cloudflare Pages. There is no application server, no session, no user account and no visitor database. Nothing you do while reading this site is written to anything we control.

The one exception is email. If you write to us, your message and your address sit in a mailbox, like any other correspondence.

What is stored in your browser

One item, in localStorage, under the key theme. Its value is either light or dark, and it exists so the site does not flash the wrong colour scheme on your next visit. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to any server, and clearing site data in your browser removes it.

Punehire sets no cookies of its own. The cookies described further down are set by Google, not by us, and only once advertising or analytics is switched on.

Requests that leave this site

A static page can still make your browser talk to someone else. That happens in three ways here, and any third party your browser contacts necessarily sees your IP address, your user agent, and which page referred you.

• Map tiles. The map on the front page loads image tiles from CARTO's basemap service, drawn from OpenStreetMap data. Every page also opens a connection to that host in advance so the map draws quickly. See CARTO's privacy notice and the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
• Hosting. Cloudflare serves this site and, like any web host, processes request data including IP addresses to deliver pages and block abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Outbound links. Apply buttons go straight to the employer's applicant tracking system. There is no redirect through us and no click tracking. Once you land there, that company's privacy policy applies and this one stops being relevant.

Analytics

This site is built to run with either Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies and records page views with an approximate location derived from your IP address, or Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and identifies nobody. Whichever is enabled is used to count pages and referrers. It is not used to build a profile of you, and no analytics data is sold or passed to anyone else.

Advertising

This site is intended to be funded by advertising through Google AdSense. The disclosures below apply whenever those ads are running.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
• Google AdSense is the only advertising network serving ads on this site. There are no other ad partners, no affiliate links and no paid listings. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

How Google uses cookies in advertising is set out in Google's advertising technologies notice, and how Google handles data from sites that use its products is set out in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown Google's own certified consent message before advertising cookies or personalised ads are used. That message is served by Google's consent management platform, not by code written here. Declining does not lock you out of anything; it means the ads are non-personalised.

No audience list, remarketing list or custom targeting segment is built from this site. In particular, nothing is targeted on the basis that a visitor is looking for a job.

As shipped in this build: advertising is not active yet, and analytics is not enabled.

Your choices

• Block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings.
• Clear site data to remove the stored theme preference.
• Turn off ad personalisation in Google Ads Settings.
• Use a content blocker. Nothing on this site is gated behind advertising or analytics loading.

GDPR and the DPDP Act

Punehire is run from India and collects no personal data directly, so most of what a data protection law governs happens at Google and Cloudflare rather than here. Under the GDPR, our own processing rests on a legitimate interest in running and funding a public index; for advertising and analytics cookies in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, consent is collected by Google's certified consent message described above. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the position is the same, and the only personal data we hold is email you chose to send. Ask us to delete it and we will. For data held by Google or Cloudflare, their own policies and controls are the effective route, and they are linked above. This is a plain description of what happens, not legal advice.

Children

This is a job index for working adults. It is not directed at children and nothing here knowingly collects information from them.

Changes

If what the site does changes, this page is updated in the same deploy and the date at the top moves. There is no notification list, because there is no mailing list.
