Pune startup jobs — common questions

Which Pune startups are hiring right now?

At the last crawl, 7 of the 38 Pune startups tracked here had at least one open role, 61 roles in total. The largest openings lists belong to PubMatic (24), Mindtickle (15), Druva (14), Rubrik (3) and Zscaler (3). Those numbers move with every crawl, so the map on the home page is the current answer rather than this sentence.

Where in Pune are the startup offices?

The busiest areas on this map today are Baner (39 open roles), Hinjawadi (20 open roles), Kharadi (1 open role) and Koregaon Park (1 open role). Broadly: Hinjawadi holds the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park and the largest engineering campuses, Baner and Balewadi sit closer to the city on the same highway, Kharadi around EON IT Park leans enterprise, and Magarpatta, Hadapsar and Viman Nagar hold smaller offices in the east. Map pins are neighbourhood centroids, not street addresses, so use them for "which part of town", not "which building".

Do Pune startups hire freshers?

Yes, though in smaller numbers than the services companies. 4 open roles currently ask for two years of experience or less. Experience levels are read out of the title and description with pattern matching, so treat that filter as a way to narrow a list rather than a rule about who may apply.

Fresher jobs in Pune →

Are there internships at Pune startups?

None are tagged as an internship right now. Startup internships are posted in bursts around college calendars rather than continuously, so a short list usually means nothing is open rather than that nothing was collected. The RSS feed is the reliable way to catch them the day they appear.

Are any Pune startup jobs remote or hybrid?

8 roles name remote work and 0 name hybrid, out of 61 open roles. A remote role only appears here if it names India and does not name another metro, because a bare "Remote" on a job board usually means US-remote. That rule drops some genuinely open roles, which is a trade made deliberately to keep a Pune map about Pune.

What kinds of roles do Pune startups hire for?

Engineering is almost always the largest group, followed by data and AI, then sales and go-to-market, product and design. The proportion is the interesting part: a company opening its first product or design roles is usually past survival mode, and one posting only sales roles has a product it already believes in. Each role page lists what is open in that function today.

How do I apply for a job listed here?

Open the role and use the apply link, which goes straight to the employer’s own hiring system — ashby, greenhouse, lever, smartrecruiters and workday pages, depending on the company. The application is submitted there, on the company’s form, and nothing about it passes through this site. There is no account to create here and no step in between.

Does Punehire take applications, CVs or fees?

No. It never accepts an application, stores a CV, or charges anybody — not candidates and not employers. There is no login, no profile and no way to apply through this site, which is deliberate: an aggregator that sits between you and the employer has an incentive to hide things, and this one has nothing to hide behind.

How often are the listings updated?

Every company feed is re-read every six hours and the site is rebuilt from the result. Each role shows when it was last confirmed still open, and roles that have left a company’s feed are not carried over into the next build. In practice a new posting shows up here within a few hours of the employer publishing it.

Why does a company show a careers link but no open roles?

Because 29 of the tracked companies publish nothing a machine can read. Only 9 of 38 use a hiring tool with a public feed; the rest run their careers page as ordinary HTML or through a tool with no syndication endpoint. Those companies still appear on the map with a link to their own careers page, because inventing listings for them would make the map look fuller and be worth less.

How this works →

What is an ATS feed, and why does it matter here?

An applicant tracking system is the software a company uses to run its hiring, and most of them publish the open roles as a machine-readable feed so the company’s own careers page can render them. That feed is the only source this site reads. It means the listing you see is the employer’s own text, unedited, and that it disappears here when they close it there.

Are these startups or large IT services companies?

Pune has two job markets that get confused with each other: the services and GCC campuses that hire in hundreds, and the product companies that hire in ones and twos. This list is curated by hand towards the second, which is why it is short. Some of the companies here are large and long past the startup stage, but they are product organisations rather than staffing businesses.

How do I know a listing here is still open?

Every role shows when it was last seen in the employer’s feed, which is at most six hours before the last build. When a role leaves the feed, its page here is removed rather than left up, so an expired posting does not linger. The apply link is still the final word — if it 404s, the employer pulled the role between crawls.

Can a company be added, corrected or removed from this list?

Yes. The company list is the one part of this site a human maintains directly, so a company in the wrong area, missing entirely, or listed when it should not be is a data problem worth fixing. Job listings themselves are not editable here — they are whatever the employer’s feed says, and a wrong title has to be fixed at the source.

Pune startup jobs, and how to read this map

Pune has two job markets that get confused with each other. One is the services and GCC market — the large campuses in Hinjawadi and Kharadi that hire in hundreds and advertise everywhere. The other is the product startup market: smaller teams, fewer openings, and roles that are often filled before they ever reach a job portal. This site tracks the second one. It follows 38 Pune startups and shows the 61 roles currently open across the 7 of them that are hiring today.

Nothing here is typed in by hand. Each listing is read from the company's own applicant tracking system — the same feed their careers page uses — and re-read every six hours. A role appears here because the employer is publishing it right now, and it disappears when they stop. That is the whole trick: this is not a database of jobs that were posted once, it is a view of what is genuinely open this morning.

Where in Pune the startups actually are

Startup hiring in Pune clusters into a handful of neighbourhoods, and knowing which one a company sits in tells you more about your commute than any job description will. Right now Baner has the most open roles of any area on the map.

Hinjawadi and its Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park hold the largest concentration of engineering teams, and the traffic on the Mumbai–Bangalore highway at 9am reflects that. Baner and Balewadi sit closer to the city and attract mid-sized product companies. Kharadi, around EON IT Park, leans enterprise. Magarpatta and Hadapsar in the east and Viman Nagar near the airport hold smaller offices. Pin positions on the map are neighbourhood centroids rather than street addresses, so treat them as "which part of town", not "which building".

What is open right now

The mix shifts week to week, which is exactly why a static list of "top companies in Pune" is useless for a job search. As of the last crawl:

Engineering is almost always the largest group, but the interesting signal is the proportion. A startup opening its first product or design roles is usually past survival mode; a company posting only sales roles is chasing revenue on a product it already has. You can read a fair amount about a company's stage from what it is hiring for, and this map makes that comparison possible in one screen.

Freshers, interns and early-career roles

There are currently 4 open roles that ask for two years of experience or less, and 0 tagged as an internship. Those are on fresher jobs in Pune and internships in Pune.

Experience ranges here are inferred from the job title and description, because most Indian postings state seniority in words rather than numbers. "SDE-1", "Associate Engineer" and "Engineer II" all mean something different at different companies. Treat the filter as a shortcut for narrowing a list, not as a rule about who may apply — startups routinely interview people who are a year short of what the posting asked for.

Remote and hybrid

8 of the open roles mention remote or hybrid work. A role only appears on this map if it names Pune or names India without naming another metro, because a bare "Remote" on a job board is usually US-remote and filling a Pune map with San Francisco listings would make it worthless. That rule drops some genuinely open roles, which is a trade we make deliberately.

How this differs from a job portal

A portal wants your CV in its database. This site has no account, no upload, no fee, and no way to apply through it — every apply button goes straight to the employer's own ashby, greenhouse, lever, smartrecruiters, workday page, which is where the application would have to end up anyway. The upside for you is that there is no intermediary deciding whether your application gets forwarded. The upside for us is that we can afford to be honest about coverage.

And the coverage gap is real: 9 of the 38 tracked startups publish a machine-readable feed. The rest appear on the map with a careers link and no role count, not because they are not hiring, but because their hiring tool publishes nothing a machine can read. Inventing listings for them would make the map look fuller and be worth less. The methodology page sets out every limit of this kind.

Using this as an ongoing search

Startup roles in Pune close fast, and the practical advantage is being early rather than being thorough. New roles land on the latest roles page and in the RSS feed as soon as a crawl picks them up, so a feed reader will tell you about an opening the same day it is published. The full dataset is also available as JSON if you would rather filter it yourself.
